What an awesome group of students we had this week! They were really focused on the work and produced some wonderful iBooks. We hope to have these approved and shared soon through the iTunes U library under MI Learning. We will have a category called Lenawee Learns or Lenawee Learning. Check back soon for more information on how you can view these wonderful digital publications through iTunes. In the meantime, for those who have an iPad and would like to take a peek, the download files are available under the "Our Finished Work" tab above. To view on an iPad one must first have downloaded and opened the iBooks app on the device. For those who don't have access to an iPad, a PDF file can be viewed with the images and text. Obviously, the video content cannot be played on the PDF file, but it does still give a sense of the breadth of this project and the work students did in just one short work. We are extremely proud of these students and grateful for having had the opportunity to work with them.
At the end of a long production day, the arts team finished up with the Tecumseh Arts Walk with Paula Holtz, Economic Development Director for the City of Tecumseh. Note the quote on the blackboard! Students created fabulous iBooks on both the Tecumseh sculptures and Croswell Opera House in Adrian, Michigan. Thanks, students, for your tremendous effort to create quality digital publications! You’re Invited!
Parents, interested family and friends are invited to stop by LISD TECH Center Friday afternoon, 2:15 – 3:00, to view our work from this week’s Digital Media Camp. Because the application is Mac specific, students are only able to view their work on an iPad at this time. You are welcome to come and view their iBook creations about Lenawee County locations on iPads we will have available in the classroom tomorrow, or students are welcome to bring their own (with parent permission), if they have an iPad to download content. Please Note: The free “iBooks” app must already be installed on the iPad for the digital book to open. At some point in the future we are planning to make the iBooks available through iTunes U Michigan’s MI Learning channel and will let you know via email if and when these are approved by MiLearning and ready for download and viewing through the iTunes U collection. Student teams have collaborated well and worked at a tremendous pace to create this educational content. We hope it has been a good week of learning with a real sense of accomplishment for each of them. Please join us, if you can, to view their work. Date: Friday, July 26, 2013 Time: 2:15 – 3:00 P.M. Location: Lenawee ISD TECH Center, Room 210, Video and Audio Production (students will take their own visitors to the Graphics Design room upon arrival) Is it really Wednesday already? What a busy week we've had! Tuesday we took two busses and each made four stops around the county to conduct video interviews, gather photos and research designated places. Student teams were awesome!
Today was a heavy writing work day. Students composed text for the framework of their ebooks. All groups are ready to start putting together their digital pages tomorrow. It will be an intense morning learning the iBooks Author software on the Mac computers and working in pairs to finish team book chapters. We expect all campers will welcome the Spotted Cow break in the early afternoon before we start the final post-production process to punish. Then, we wiill be very excited to share our iBooks with you on Friday afternoon. Am invitation with time and place will come home Thursday afternoon. Welcome to our digital media camp site. This summer campers will be researching various locations in Lenawee County to write iBooks sharing interesting information they learn about Lenawee sports & recreation, arts, history, and science and technology. Each team will work together to create a feature article in a digital publication that can be shared through iTunes. We are looking forward to a very exciting week getting to know each camper and seeing them develop into published digital authors! For parents, each team will have a Team Worklog page and they will be bringing home login information on how you can view what their team shares about the production process. Attached is a document on Internet safety guidelines for parents and students to read if not too familiar with blogging. Stay tuned!
